Missing data in OLAP Cube (proj server 2003)

Doug

We update the OLAP cube every day at 12:00 noon (using the "Use the
earliest project start date and the latest project finish date" and
"Use the following date range for retrieving resource availability
information: Next 4 weeks, past 0 weeks"). This process has been
running, with these settings, for the past couple of years without
issue. As of late last week the data in the OLAP was good. However,
at some point between last week and today, most of the data within the
OLAP is now missing. Running the update again using the "Update Now"
button does not change the results. The data is still present within
the project schedules in project server, but for some reason most (but
not all) data in the cube is gone. Any ideas as to what would cause
this, and more importantly, what I can do to repopulate the cube?
Thanks.

Doug, do you get any error messages within PWA ? If not have you checked the
event logs on the server. Can you see any errors there? If not than I would I
would delete the Project Server OLAP cube database within the Analysis
Services, then I would rebuild the cube within PWA. Project Server will
automatically re-create the new OLAP database. Before you delete the Project
Server OLAP cube database, check the user perimissions within the OLAP
database, you will need to re-create these permissions once Project Server
has rebuild the database. After that the cube build should be ok again.

Hope this all makes sense. If you are unsure, let me know which part and I
will elaborate in more detail. Also, if at all possible I would test this
approach in a test environment first.
thanks

Doug:

It may be too late, but before doing as Marc Suggests, I'd force a rebuild
of the reporting database by taking an administrative backup of your
enterprise fields and restore them. Then do a cube build. If the problem
persists, follow Marc's instructions. If it works, you've saved a lot of
effort.
