Missing projects within PWA

I have a client with 4 PM's. Each of the PM's have the same security
settings, in that they reside within the same RBS level (2nd level -
Executive.Project Manager) and the same group (Project Managers). I have
also forced the Project Manager setting for the Global Permissions.

They have entered 20 projects are part of the implementation test. The
following is occurring:

1. Master Projects are not visible by the other project managers. The
project manager who created the master project can see it, but not the other
PM's. I am well aware of the issues with publishing master projects, but
this is a client requirement.

2. I have a PM that entered 5 projects, saved and published them, but 2 of
the projects are not available for view by the other PM's. I am looking for
a way to determine what the security issue is that is preventing these
projects from being viewed.

Thanks,

What version of Project Server are you using? 2002, 2003, or 2007? It
would help if you let us know that.

Regardless of your version, the default permissions in Project Server 2002,
2003, or 2007 only allow a PM to see his/her own projects, as defined by the
My Projects category. A project is "my project" if I am the owner of the
project or am a team member of the project. Would that explain the behavior
your are seeing?

Beyond this, are you saying you want all PM's to be able to see one
another's projects? Let us know.

We are using Project Server 2007. We need project managers within the
organization to see all projects and resources within the organization.

Based on their level within the RBS definition, they should be able to see
each other's projects. And this is working, except for the 2 projects
mentioned and the master projects.

I personally would not expect RBS to handle this issue. If you need all
PM's to see all projects, there are a couple ways to do this. Probably the
easiest way is to modify the My Projects category and set it up to grant
access to "All current and future projects." Just a thought. Hope this
helps.

Gotcha!

The actual field I need is under My Organization, The project owner has the
same RBS value as the user.

I have faced the pwa missing project syndrome.. as a PM w/Admin rights, I
normally see all projects. however at times, projects are not visiable on the
grid of project center... given that permission are set correctly and
everything is really really checkin.. the best thing to do is remove the
webpart from that page and then add it back again.. and then all projects
become visable..

No- dont ask me why this works /happens.. I dont know..all I know is this
work around --gets to me view all projects at the grid level and then I can
drill down !!

Here is how I corrected the issue:

These permission settings, in conjunction with the group permissions, create
the view permissions. The issue was which projects can project managers view
and at what time within the project plan.

Update Manage Categories section:
1. Change My Organization Category as follows
a.Select “The User is the Project Owner or the User is the Status
Manager on assignments within that Projectâ€
i.This will allow resource managers to view projects that
their direct reports are assigned to
b.Select “The Project Owner has the same RBS value as the userâ€
i.Allows project managers, assigned to the same level
within the RBS, to view projects on their same level
2. Change My Projects Category as follows
a.Select “All current and future projects in Project Server databaseâ€
i.Allows user to view all projects. Default within this
group is only current projects or projects specifically selected for the user.
b.Select “The Project Owner has the same RBS value as the userâ€
i.Allows project managers, assigned to the same level
within the RBS, to view projects on their same level
