MS Office 2003 Promotional version

I need to buy a replacement install for Office Pro 2003. I came across a
"Promotional" version that costs much less than the other versions. I've
never seen this before and was wondering if anyone could explain the
difference between this version and the others- OEM, full, etc.

I suspect that if you bought it, you would find written on the CD "Not
for Resale". Don't touch it with a barge pole....

If it costs money, I suspect that it is a fraud. It could be that
someone is selling the trial version.

As to the rest ...

OEM versions come with the computer when you buy it and cannot be
transferred to any other computer.

Full versions can be installed on your computer and can be later
transferred to your next PC. The Office 2003 Student & Teacher edition
can be installed on 3 computers. Most of the others can be installed,
for your use only (see the EULA for details) on your desktop and
laptop.

Upgrade versions require you to have in your possession a qualifying
product such as a previous version of Office or Word, Excel, etc., or
a competing product. Check somewhere on the MS Office web site for
details on the qualifying products. Other then that, an upgrade
version is the same as the full.

Lastly there is the Trial version which you can freely download from
MS. This version is time locked so that you can try it out for awhile
but after a time it will lock you out, only allowing you to view your
files.

Thank you both Gordon and Brian for your replies. The software is on what I
believe to be a reputable company's site that I have purchase software from
before; I'd just never seen that version before. I will do as you both
suggested and stay away from it.
