MS Project Recurring Task

I have a recurring task named quarterly reports of 1 year duration and
therefore four subtasks. I would like to be able to display the four
quarterly reports (subtasks) in the recurring task's summary ie. display all
the subtasks in a single line when the recurring task has been collapsed. I
Have seen this done on another Project Worksheet - this single line of
subtasks was displayed whether the recurring task was expanded or collapsed.
How can this be done? many thanks.

Hi SWJ,

This is the default setting in Project. You should see the 4 meeting blue
bars on the same summary row across the year. Did you use Insert/Recurring
task from the menu bar? What version of Project are you using? If you're
using a server, then try posting on the server newsgroup. Please see FAQ
Item: 24. Project Newsgroups. FAQs, companion products and other useful

Thanks for your reply. No, I do not see the four meeting bars across the
year summary, but that is what I want to see. Yes, I used the
insert/recurring task function and I am using Project 2003. Can you please
explain how to do it. I am not using a server.

Hi SJW,

Try this in a new project: Insert/Recurring Task, type in a name eg meeting,
enter the duration of each meeting eg 1h, select monthly and the 10th (or
whatever day you choose) of - use the pick list to select every 3rd, end
after 4 occurrences and OK. In the Gantt Chart view, use the zoom out minus
button until you can see all 4 bars.
