MSP Bug?? - defaulting task dates well out to the future

S

Steve Scott

I have been given a file to look at which is defaulting task dates well out
to the future for no obvious reason whatsoever. Having checked constraints,
links, default start dates etc I can find no reason for this behaviour. If
however, I then set the project to schedule from the finish date and then
immediately re-set it to schedule from the finish date it reverts all the
errant default dates back to what they should be. This looks like a bug in
MSP – is my thinking correct and why does this happen?

Hi Steve,

Is your leveling calculation set to automatic? See Tools > Level
Resources. It should be set to manual.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Sure thing Steve. Let us know. If that is not the case, give us a bit
more information. Are the tasks moving about as you add them? Are you
inserting task between tasks that are linked?
