My Task Hours Disappearing

T

Tuckey

Hi, my company is using Project 2007 with SP2. Currently we are experencing
some issues with submitting time in My Tasks (we have Timesheets turned off).
When a resource submits time against a task and submits it the time is
displayed in their view. However, after the PM approves of the updated tasks
it disappears from the resource's view. If the resource clicks on the task
history it shows that the time they put in has been submitted and approved
but it is no longer displayed in the My Tasks. Also, sometimes the updated
task time gets into the project and sometimes it doesn't. And before asked
(as I would have myself) yes, I've made sure that the PM published the
updated tasks and that is not the cause of why time does not always make it
into the plan.
So my question is, while the tasks shows all the transaction history of
being submitted and approved, why does the time disappear from the resource's
view and when that happens why does it sometimes and sometimes not follow
through into the plan? I did make my resources submit the time again a
second time and it went through then, however, since we don't know what
caused the issue in the first place we don't want it to keep on occuring.
So to reiterate, resource's time in My Task get submitted, approved, then
disappears from resource's My Task view. The PM has approved updates of the
tasks that has disappeared from the resource, publishes it to the project
plan and sometimes it does and sometimes it does not follow through. In the
task history it does show the time has been submitted and approved but is not
displayed in the resource's My Task nor the project plan.

Thank you in advance for all of your help or suggestions.

Can you please verify with 100% certainty that in the resource usage view
in the project within Project Professional, the actuals are showing in the
correct week and that this is different than what the resource sees on their
My Tasks page?

Also, please make sure the PMs are on the same SP2 version as the server.

The actuals are not in the plan at all. The actuals are in the tasks history
but it isn't in the resource's My Task or the plan.
The PMs computers with the client is on hotfix 952067

Hi Tuckey,

maye you have a quite old CU installed on your enviroment.
In December CU 2009 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977266) , for example,
there are some new fix for actual lost related to change duration column.

Again a good pointer can be see ULS log on server. Maybe there are error the
are not visible on queue but can help to understand if something in approve
operation failed.

I hope this can be help you

Thank you,
Paolo
