Dear All,

My name is Moh'd, i have seen the Product which is new to the Microsoft ,
called

Project Portfolio Server 2007.

to be very clear with you, i am working as project manager here in Saudi
Arabia, and i am having only PMP with me.

Here in our company, we are working only with one thing which is :-

1- Microsoft Office Project 2003 - Desktop client software.

We are not using @ all, Microsoft Project 2007 - Desktop Client Software.
We are not using even , Microsoft Project Server 2007 , or even Microsoft
Project Server 2003.

Now i have found these Products from Microsoft :-

1- Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Server 2007 .
2- Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 .

Now, i Understand that, the Microsoft Project Server 2007, is the upgradable
one for the MS-Project Server 2003.

I really want to get a complete understanding of this product which is
called :-
Portfolio Server 2007..

I really do not know how can i use it in my company & i really search about
the Partner in Egypt or Saudi Arabia, who i can Purchase this Product from
him.

can anyone please explain to me the product exactly how can i use it & in
what can i use it... with a very simple way.

Also, i want to understand , in what i can use the Project Server , if i
have for example 3 projects running & i have here in my company 3 project
managers are running for each project & each project manager have 12 people
working under him

My name Andre , i am from a company called UMTSA , we are a South
african based organisation that has done Microsoft Project and PPS
deployments for a lot of organisations across africa. Look for us on
the internet.

As far as PPS is concerned it is reall;y a tool that can be used more
specifically organising and rating a portfolio of projects. The tool
is very customizeable and you can create your own workflows and score
reports for projects.

On the other hand MS EPM (Project Server) is used to actually manage
the schedules of the Project Managers. The EPM tool has very nice
resource management capabilities. I like to say that the tool enables
a redistibution of responsibilities. The Resources could update their
task progress adn send it for approval to the PM, that way it the PM
does not have to phone around and try and get progress updates from
resources. Half of the tool is web based (PWA) which resources can use
to do abovementioned.

Further to that we can do some awesome reporting and data analysis
using the tool enabling Project Visibility accross the orginization.
