Notes in Outlook 2007 no longer sync with my PDA via ActiveSync 5.

Equipment: Windows XP SP3 running on a Compaq S5400NX desktop. Office 2007
applications, including Outlook. Windows Mobile 5.1.1702 running on HP iPAQ
hx2750 PDA. Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5.0 is the synchronization software
between the two.

On 8/15/2008 I installed a dozen or so updates to my Windows PC from
Microsoft Update. Now I find that ActiveSync is unable to reliably
synchronize Notes from Outlook. Notes created, modified or even viewed in
Outlook on my desktop PC will not sync to my PDA. Instead, they get garbled
and my PDA locks up. I believe the ActiveSync application on the PDA cannot
handle the situation. Notes created or changed on my PDA are successfully
cloned to Outlook on the desktop PC. But it seems I dare not view or use
them on the desktop PC, as that triggers a new synchronization leading to a
lockup of my PDA.

I have reinstalled ActiveSync 4.5.0 with no improvement.

As part of the Windows Updates I mentioned at the start, there were two
updates to the Office System: KB951596 and KB954038. Has anyone encountered
problems of their own with Outlook since these updates were distributed?

I guess that, barring a true solution, I'll have to work around this by
removing Notes from the synchronization process. That will be inconvenient.
Anybody have a better option?

Thanks.

Try posting this to microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync to see if others have reported this problem and may have found an answer. As you can tell, Outlook is only the repository for the data and takes no active roll in synching.
