Office 2000 Prof SR1/SR 1a-help needed

Whenever I go to the Office update site, I am told that I need Sr-1a update.
However, I have checked the data1.msi on my CD, anit is 2,255,200 b, which is
the size given for SR1a as detailed in Q267839.

If I download the SR1a update and try to run it, I get firstly a message
that the data1.msi on CD is incorrect for installing Word, then when I exit I
get a 1706 error message, and a note that the installation didnt complete.

I have looked at the various remedies suggested, including repair and
reinstallation of Office 2000, plus a new Windows installer, but I stll
cannot see:-

- why the CD file is SR1a, but the Windows Office update site doesnt sem to
think so.

Hi, LCC,

There are several data1.msi files for Microsoft products. It's quite
possible that what it's looking for is a different product, such as Works
(which included Word), or FrontPage. When you update Office automatically,
it updates all Office products and may be seeking a CD for a related
product. See if this helps:

Are Installing
