office 2007 installation

D

David Sherman

When I try to install Office 2007 on a Windows vista machine, I get
the following error:

Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly
component {97F81AF1-0E47-DC99-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x80071A30.
assembly interface: IAssemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, assembly
name:
Microsoft.VC80.ATL,version="8.0.50727.42",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",processorArchitecture="x86"

I have tried disabling UAP and re-attempt the install? Click Start >
All Programs > Accessories > Run > type in MSCONFIG > Tools (tab) >
scroll down select "Disable UAP" > click "Launch" > close Command
Prompt > restart system for changes to take effect. Retry the
install.

I have tried to run in Windows XP compatability mode.
Windows first started as Windows XP. So I have installed all the XP
patches including all those for .NEt Framework.

When I ggodgle the error terms, I get very few hits and those all have
to do with .Net Framework. I have rename c:\windows\assembly. I still
get the error message.

When I try a Filemon
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html
the machine hangs.

Any suggestions?

thanks

What version of Vista are you trying to install Office 2007? It will only
run on the latest beta released in May, not any earlier versions.

Hi David,

In the case of Vista they were, for some reason, showing "Beta 2" on the desktop for releases that were just slightly earlier than
what they then released as Beta 2. Build 5384 of Vista is what is required to run the 2007 Office system Beta 2 apps.
