Office 2007 pro - safe as pdf and xps fails

Boris

Hi,
I have Office 2007 Pro Plus installed and working but I have been trying to
use the safe as pdf and xps add-in and have not managed to get that to work
at all. I downloaded and installed the add in shortly after (finally)
successfully installing the Office 2007 Pro Plus package and I have the
options to save as pdf or save as xps in the save as menu. However, when I
try to save even a very simple text file (in fact, a text file opened in Word
2007 and then "converted" to 2007 format) to pfd or to xps, I get the error
message that "The export failed due to an unexpected error"...
I have tried removing the Save as PDF and XPS add-in and then reinstalling
it but I still get the same error message. The SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe installer
file is version 12.0.4518.1014 and I downloaded this directly from Microsoft.
Any suggestions for how I might get the add in working, or anything I should
try, would be most welcome.
Many thanks and best wishes, Boris.

I forgot to add- I am running Office 2007 Pro Plus on a Windows XP system
(SP2 and up to date on all hot fixes).
Thanks again in advance for any replies / hints / suggestions.

Hi Boris,

I read your post in the Word discussion groups that you also uninstalled and then reinstalled Office 2007. Did you also uninstall
then reinstall the PDF/XPS download after restarting the PC after doing the new install?

It's possible that you may have a slightly corrupted add-in download as well.

Also, before reinstalling the add-in and with no Office apps running use Start=>Search and recycle files that are found using this
search string
~$*.*;*.tmp

Hi Bob,
I didn't have the save as pdf and xps add-on installed with the flaky office
2007 installation (at least I am pretty sure I didn't). Anyway, I have
uninstalled the add-in, deleted all the ~$*.* and *.tmp files (apart from
those that were in system32 and related to IE7), redownloaded the add-in and
reinstalled but I still get the same behaviour! I had a one sentence file I
created and tried to save as pdf. It gave me the message that it was
connecting to the printer and hen the same error message as before.... Any
other ideas or suggestions?
Many thanks for all your help, Boris.
PS I thought I might try installing the tow separate add-ins - save as pdf,
and save as xps but am not sure it is worth trying. I can print to the adobe
pdf printer, which seems to work OK, but does not, of course, give any
section short cuts etc to the pdf file...
