Office 2007 Update Fails

Automatic update keeps trying to install Office 2007 SP1 and keeps failing

Platform Windows XP Pro (with all sps and updates)

I removed Office completely and installed from scratch

I applied the sp and the Office products all show that they are version
12.0.6213.1000 but the update still wants to apply itself and fails every
time.

The file size indicates it is only trying to update part of Office, but
which part is 30.9 MB. (from installer)

:Service Pack 1 provides the latest updates to the 2007 Microsoft Office
Suite. This update also applies to Expression Web and Visual Web Developer.

The event log shows :
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with
error 0x80070643: 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1).

The OSE service appears to be OK as other updates have been applied
successfully.

No Joy... I marked it as don't bother installing any more...
I will probably have to uninstall office completely and start from fdisk to
get the update to take.
