Office 2007 won't open

I have Windows XP running on my computer. I recently had Office 2003, but
after some automatic updates were installed, it stopped working and telling
me that it was not installed. So I then proceeded to buy Office 2007
Professional and installed that. None of the programs will open will clicked
on. I have uninstalled Office 2003 and uninstalled my Norton Virus
protection and installed AVG. What else do I need to do to get Office 07 to
run the way it is supposed to? I need this up and running today to build
charts for my job.

What happens if you pop your Office cd in?
Does it give you the option to either repair or install?

It asks if I want to Add or Remove Features, Repair or Remove.

Then click on "Repair"......

I clicked on repair and it still will not open the programs.

What happens if you click on Word, in your Programs grouping?
Or
In Start>Run (type) winword.exe ,then hit return or OK

Nothing would happen. So I ended up calling Microsoft Support for 07 and
spent two hours on the phone with them. Things are running fine now with all
programs opening the way they should be, all we did was make a new user
account. Thanks for all your help.

what was the number that you called/did they charge you for support? i've
been having the exact same problems with the msoffice ultimate 2007 i
purchased and downloaded online. install went fine, but none of the programs
would open.
