Office 2k problem

2 systems running WinXP, office 2k.

Here's the situation.

system 1(wifes), Wants to copy a row in an Excel file and pasted it into a
new Word doc.

Open Excel file, copy one row, open Word--- While Word is opening get error
msg and Excel closes but Word continues to open ok.
Have tried different Excel files just to test and it crashes.

Can do it on this system 2(mine) with no problems.

Error msg? Sorry, crystal ball not working. Google the error
msg or tell us exactly what the error msg says.

Sorry 'bout that.
It's the error msg that pops up just beofre a MS program shut down.

Word tries to open. It's gets to a screen that I can see Document 0ne- MS
Word at the top but no icons, etc. have opened yet.

Rectangle in middle of screen that states;
"Microsoft Excel has incountered a problem and needs to close. We're sorry
for any inco-----." More wording and the selection of send error report or
don't send. No error codes.
When I click on Send or don't send, the screen goes away- Word opens and
Excel closes.

Follow-up.
I just moved this system and hooked up a usb printer. Read somewhere folks
are having problems with print drivers causing Excel to crash!!
Also, I very seldom used Office is previous location so I let MS Office find
updates and there are 14 for O2k which I'm d/ling now.
I also added 1meg of memory bringing that up to 1.5 meg but it's been
running stable for over a week until this happened.

another update.

When I copy a cell from any Excel worksheet then try and open Word or
Outlook, Excel crashes and closes. If Word/Outlook are already open, things
work fine.

If anyone is looking, found the problem.
It's the HP 5440 printer. When I set a different printer to default, the
programs work fine. When I reset the 5440 as dafault problem comes back.
Not sure how to fix. HP says all updates are installed.
