Office beta causes Works Suite 2006 corruption?

Melelina

I have the Office 2007 beta. I also have Works Suite 2006. Word 2002 works
just fine and coincides fine with Word 2007. However, it appears most of
Works Suite doesn't coincide nicely with Office beta.

Just now I went to use the spreadsheet from Works Suite and I got this
error: wksdb.exe entry point not found.

That error means I need to reinstall Works Suite? Do I need to uninstall
Office Beta first? I'm thinking that Office beta may be why I can't access
anything in Works Suite except Word 2002 and the Calendar. I get the above
error when trying to access anything else in Works Suite which was working
fine prior to installing Office Beta.

I don't plan on purchasing Office 2007. I don't like the changes made to
Word and I don't like the GUI for any of Office 2007. I haven't uninstalled
it because I've been afraid to actually. But should I uninstall it before
reinstalling Works Suite 2006? Thanks.

Hi Melelina,

There are some updated MS Works shared files in the Office 2007 Beta that cause MS Works to break.

For the current workaround to get both MS Works and Office 2007
Beta 2 working together you'll need your MS Works CD and these steps. You can uninstall Office 2007 first if you no longer have use
for it.

1. Use Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>System Tools and set a System Restore Point.

2. As with any significant change to your PC configuration such as installing and uninstalling software backup your files before
proceeding.

3. From Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel uninstall Microsoft Works.

4. Delete the folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\

5. Restart the PC.

6. Install Works from the CD.

Thank you! or Mahalo as we say in Hawaii.

I tried repairing Works first from the option in Add/Remove programs which
reinstalled it. That didn't fix the problem.

Do I need to also uninstall C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works Suite 2006?
That appears to be the setup files.
