Office ClipArt Organizer Error - Error Code 0x80040231

I'm unable to use most of the ClipArt supplied by the Office Suite (I have
Office Professional 2003).
When I try to open clipart in any of the programs, I get an error code
0x80040231. If I click OK the organizer task pane opens, but many of the
graphics are unavailable to me - it will keep asking for me to insert my CD
(which doesn't work, if I do insert it). Also, I can't download any clipart
from the Microsoft site - I get the same error code on downloads when it
tries to put them in the ClipArt Organizer. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Make sure you have the latest MDAC

Also Empty your Temporary Internet Files cache
In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Delete Files.

If you are still experiencing issues please post the entire error message
you are getting....

Thank you for your response, Paul - I'm afraid I'm still a bit in the dark
though.
I did run the MDAC component checker and it appears I have MDAC 2.8 SP1. I
also cleared out my Temporary Internet Files cache though I do tend to do
that on a regular basis - that didn't help. The exact message I get is "Clip
Art Organizer cannot complete the operation. Error Code 0x80040231". I don't
get any further error messages - as I mentioned in my first post, if I click
OK on the message dialog box it will then take me to the clipart task pane in
whatever program I am in, with thunbnails of clipart choices, but if I click
on most of them to try and use them, I get the message "The feature you are
trying to use is on a CD rom or other removable disk that is not available.
Insert the Microsoft XP Media Content and click OK". It appears to be
searching for a source named Microsoft XP Media Content on my hard drive and
not finding it, though I am not sure of that - the message isn't the most
explanatory one in the world! I'm not sure if the two messages are related or
not - they may be two separate problems.
If I insert a Microsoft Media Content CD, the graphics will come up, but
they should be on my hard drive from what I understand - the system should
not be trying to find them externally. I still get the initial error, in any
case, whether or not the CD is in the drive. And I still can't download
clipart from Microsoft ClipArt online (same error comes up when the download
tries to put graphics in the clipart organizer).

KuanYin50:
Did any of Paul Ballou suggestions work for you? I'm getting the same error
(Error Code 0x80040231) when opening Clip Art Organizer in MS Office Word
2003 and the potential fixes below did not correct ...

I've even removed and reinstalled Clip Art Organizer but still get the error
.....

Paul, any additional suggestions?

Hi Frank - No, I'm afraid nothing has helped so far - I did the same thing
you did as well (attempting to reinstall the Clip Art Organizer) and JoAnn's
suggestion (below) of clearing the IE cache. I can only think that something
has gotten corrupted in an area that doesn't get cleared out or replaced even
in an unistall. I'm still hoping for a breakthru, though!
