office document scanning

i have office 2003 in Microsoft XP home. till a few days ago i could scan
documents using Microsoft Office Document Scanning tool.
the programme would automatically identify my HP all-in-one scanner/printer
and would set it up.
however now under 'scanner' it mentions - 'Vimicro USB PC camera' and i have
no idea what that is!
when i proceed to click on 'scan' for scanning a new document it generates a
string of 'error' messages.
how do i change the settings so that the programme will again identify my
scanner?

My guess is that you allowed some automatic driver update to occur and
it broke your installed scanner driver. I would see if the driver found
in Device manager for the scanner can be rolled back. Lacking that
option. Uninstall and remove the scanner from the system, and then
reinstall according to the instructions provided for the unit.
