Office Home and Student Install Problems

After I purchased Office 2007 Home and Student I uninstalled my Office 2000
Premum edition on my XP computer. I get the following message:

"Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s):
The 2007 Microsoft Office system does not support upgrading from a
prerelease version of the 2007 Microsoft Office system. You must first
uninstall any prerelease versions of the 2007 Microsoft Office system
products and associated technologies.
Correct the issue(s) listed above and re-run setup."

However, I do not have any previous version of Office 2007 on my computer.

Any suggestions

Have you rebooted the system after uninstalling the 00 version and before
attempting the 2007 version? If not try that first.

Ensure that you do not have a trial version of Office 2007 installed by
going into Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

Next, have you upgraded your XP system to at least SP 2 (SP3 recommended) as
2007 won't run on XP before SP 2.

Make sure you have a good data backup before proceeding.

If you still have issues you may want to read and then run the uninstaller
listed here to make sure that 2007 has been totally removed and then read
and run the second installer cleanup utility to ensure that 2000 has been
totally uninstalled.

I found the answer to my own question. I had purchased Office 2007 Home and
Student. After removing Office 2000 I was unable to install Office 2007. It
kept telling me I had to completely uninstall a previous version of Office
2007, but I had never installed office 2007 before. After many hours of
thinking, searching and attempting, a reply in this foum directed me to
article ID: 928218 which worked. Using STEP 1, Titled "Remove any remaining
Windows Installer packages of the 2007 Microsoft Office system" I found a
Free program which I had downloaded which converts Word files to PDF. After
uninstalling the program according the the directions of the article, I was
able to install Office 2007 Home and Student. Another slight glitch was that
in the File-Edit-View line the article asked me to sort by 'subject', but the
standard sorts did not include 'subject'. There was a way to add the sort by
'subject'.
