Office XP Professional and Vista 64-bit

Could someone tell me if BOTH of these programs are compatible with
a Vista 64- bit system?
1 Office XP Professional
2 Office Professional 2003

My old computer was using XP and my new one is Vista 64 bit. I did a lot of
work using Office XP Professional paticularly in Excel on my old computer.
My new computer came with a trial version of Office 2007, so took advantage
of it using one of the databases from Office XP and playing with it on the
new computer with Office 2007.
The Office 2007 is now telling me that the work I have done using the trial
version needs to be saved under the "new" Office format. I don't want to buy
the newer version of Office, so I am wondering if I continue to use it until
the trial expires, will the work I have done be for naught since I want to
use the older Office XP or 2003.
If I save it under the 2007 version, can I go back to using the XP version
without loosing my data?

Not only am I concerned abt 2 totally differant versions of Office (XP and
2003 versus Office 2007) because of differant extentions, I am also concerned
abt the 64-bit Vista as well.

I know I didn't explain myself very well but hopefully someone can make
sense of this post!

"Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007
File Formats

Brief Description

Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file
formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007."

Available here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Search.aspx?displaylang=en

You can install this after your trial expires, and you install Office XP or
2003, whatever you decide. The Office Compatibility Pack will allow you to
work with the documents you have created under Office 2007 Trial.

Hi Earle,

I should have stated this is a trial of Student 2007-is that the same as 2007?
Once I install and do updates, I should uninstall 2007, correct?
Just want to cover my bases before I mess up my computer.
Greatly appreciate the link you sent-thanks!

You definitely want to uninstall any version of Office 2007 before
installing Office XP or Office 2003. I have Office 2003 on my desktop, and
Compatibility Pack installed. I have no trouble opening and saving
documents created on my laptop, which has Office 2007. There is a warning
that certain new features won't be accessible, but I don't know what those
are.

Earle,
Your a genius! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge-I managed to
uninstall 2007 and install 2003 and open a few excel docs without problems.
What a relief- thank you so very much!!
