OneNote 2007 Enable Add-ins

L

Loren

I am logged on as an administrator on my computer (vista business OS)
(OneNote 2007) and am trying to send a page from IE7 to OneNote. I click on
the button on the tool bar in IE to send to OneNote and a box comes up and
says that Add-Ins are disabled please contact your administrator to enable.
I thought that maybe I did not have the PDF/XPS add in for MS Office, so I
downloaded that. When I look under tools/options/add-ins in OneNote, I does
not show any add-ins installed. I have restarted the computer, ensured I was
logged in as an admistrator with no avail. Any suggestions? I have had no
problems with my XP machine. Thanks

Additional Information on this: I can send to OneNote from MS Outlook if
that helps. Only from IE am I having problems. The exact message that comes
up is
"OneNote add-ins have been disabled. Contact your system administrator to
enable them." Thanks again, Loren

Is it disabled in IE | Tools | Programs | Manage Addons? It's called "Send
to OneNote."

In IE, tools/manage add ons, it shows that it is enabled, yet the same error
comes up. I have checked the properties on both ON/IE start up icons to be
sure that admin rights are granted when starting both programs, still have
these errors. Any more suggestions. Thanks

have you toggled it disabled, saved, exited, then toggled it back on?
Admittedly, I'm just guessing out loud right now, but am also researching to
see if there is anything else to try.

Ok, I tried that and it still gives the same error. More info on this.
Under the enable add ins section in IE, I noticed that there was not a name
under the publisher column nor was there a file under the file column. Is
there a file I can download from MS to IE for sending to ON? Sometimes just
re-installing the software makes the difference. Thanks for the help

The blanks are normal for OneNote 2007 and Sp1.

If you are using a 64 bit version of IE, the addin will not work. We're
aware of the problem.

The only other thing I can think is to kill all instances of IE, OneNote and
dllhost.exe (you may need to use task manager to kill that item. If other
applications are running and using it for their addins, they will break as
well, so I recommend shutting down everything first). Then run detect/repair
and then toggle the addin off and on again.

OK, however, this is starting to get out of my field of expertise. Could you
send me a "checklist" if you will on exactly what you want me to do to shut
down the dll host, ect. to try this out. Also, how can I tell if this
version of Vista is the 64 bit or 32 bit version? I really want to thank you
for your time and effort in this matter and really wish to see this through
compleation. As always, thanks

loren/john,

i'm having exactly the same problem after buying-activating ON from a trial
version. after completely uninstalling the trial version and re-installing
the full ON, still get the same error statement when trying to use the Send
to OneNote command under Tools. very frustrating. :(

I'm experiencing the same problem as well, except I don't even get the error
message. I choose File > Print > Send to OneNote 2007 and then nothing
happens. It used to work perfectly, however now I get nothing. I updated to
Vista (32-bit) SP1 recently but I can't say with any certainty if that had
anything to do with it or not.

- The Send to OneNote add-on is installed and enabled in IE7
- Toggling the add-on from enabled to disabled and back to enabled didn't help
- Resetting IE7 advanced settings didn't help
- Running Office Diagnostics turned up nothing
- No events are logged in the Event Viewer
- Restarting the PC didn't help
- Send to OneNote works in other applictions (including FireFox), only a
problem in IE7

I haven't tried to reinstall OneNote or Offiice because it's working with
all other apps and the problem is isolated to only IE7. Is there a way to
reinstall IE7? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Loren, Kevin and Gil,

I am happy to see that the error I am getting is not an isolated case.
Unfortunately for all of us, this is very frustrating. It does seems that
John Guin is aware of the problem and I hope to see a posting from him with a
solution.
In my opinion the problem occurred when I upgraded from Vista Business 32
bit & installed the Vista SP1 package. I believe this is a security issue
that was tightened with the upgrade and it affects One Note.
I will very much appreciate your posting if you figure out the way to enable
this important feature to OneNote.
John Guin we anxiously wait to hear news from you regarding this fix.

Thanks and Best!!

Hi all,

I have the same issue with the Send To OneNote add-in from IE (8 or 9) to OneNote 2010.
I have not found the solution, but a workaround.

If you are on a Trusted website (in Internet Options/Security), then the Send To OneNote button works fine. If you are on a regular 'Internet' website, then you get this message : "OneNote add-ins have been disabled. Contact your system administrator to
enable them."

It looks like sending webpages to OneNote is blocked due to some Internet Options security settings, but I couldn't find which one specifically.

I hope that will help the guys from Microsoft to find the solution.
