Opening free/busy .vfb file with IE

Guest

I am using Outlook 2003 on WinXP, in a mixed Outlook 2003/2000 environment.
My understanding is that you can publish free/busy info in the form of a
..vfb file and then view it in Internet Explorer.

When I try to open the .vfb in IE by pointing to a network share
(file://\\fileserver\share\freebusy.vfb), it doesn't do anything. I can
open the file in a text editor and see that it does have data in it:

Hi,

Thanks for your posting here.

Please first check if you configure Internet Free/Busy (IFB) according to
the following article:
827775 How to use the Internet Free/Busy feature in Outlook 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=827775

At the meanwhile, please try to open the .vfb at the network from some
other client, and check you can reproduce the issue. Also, copy the .vfb
file to the local hard disk, and try to open it with IE.

If the issue persists, please provide me with a screen shot of the error
message when you try to open it.

The following article may also be helpful:

If you need further help, pos back to let me know. Have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards
Alan Sun
