Out of Memory or Disc Space

J

John_E.

I installed Word 2008 a couple of weeks ago. Everything was going fine. Now all of a sudden, when I try to save changes to a document, I get an error message saying "Save failed due to out of memory or disc space." Any ideas what's happening or what to do about it?

Something is preventing Word from saving or deleting "one" of the many files
involved in a document save.

This is usually a Directory Permissions Error.

Phillip found a very useful tool for fixing this, and I can't remember what
it was. Phillip????

Cheers

Its called applejack and even though its installed as a .pkg file its
accessed through Single User Mode (Restart while holding down command-S)

when screen starts you'll see a black screen with white lettering.
wait for all the start up code to finish.

Then at prompt type applejack.

do test in the number order given.

two of the test you do both at system and at user level.

Much of that is done can be done using Disk Utility from the DVD. but
there are other items that are cleaned and repaired that are not normal
touched by Disk Utility such things as removing font caches.

And all of whats done can be done by using UNIX commands. But if your
not careful you can wipe out your hard drive and make it a useless brick
unless you know what your doing. AppleJack puts a safe user interface on
it. And only allows you to do test and repairs you should be doing.

Check here for information: http://applejack.sourceforge.net/
