Outlook 2003 backup add-in utility problems

User A was using the Outlook Backup Add-in from Microsoft Office 2003 to
automatically backup several
PST files at the root of his C:\ Drive. He moved the PST files, breaking
the link with the Backup
utility, so that now the utility doesn't see a new PST that was created or
the existing PSTs either.

1. The PSTs have been removed and opened back up in Outlook, no change.
2. Confirmed the Add-in is enabled in Tools>Options>Other>Advanced
3. Uninstalled Outlook Backup Add-in, quit Outlook, installed tool and
reinstalled the add-in, no change.

The add-in can now see the new PST but not the multiple existing PSTs which
were previously being backed up by the Backup Add-In utility.

Any suggestions on how to have Outlook be able to see all the PST's which
are now not viewable?

Are all those pst-file already configured with Outlook?
The pst-files shown in File-> Data File Management... are the same as that
show up in the Outlook Backup Addin.

There is no direct link between the original and its backup; a backup in
nothing more than a simple copy of the pst-file. You can manually specify
the backup location to another location via the options in the addin.

If you are saying that the files do show up in the Outlook Folder List
Navigation but do not show up in File-> Outlook Data File Management... then
the method of moving and adding the pst-files again to Outlook have not been
done correctly by the user. Going by the information you provided, it sounds
like the mail profile is then corrupted and needs to be recreated.

The pst files are viewable and usable within Outlook 2003, however only 1 of
the 4 pst files are being seen by the backup addin utility. Am I configuring
something incorrectly in the backup tool?

Thanks, Roady!!!

Maybe this explains it better:

1) If using the default backup folder, File\Backup\Options\ and checking
all 4 personal folders, I see 4 backup files (outlook backup.pst, test1
backup.pst, test2 backup.pst, test3 backup.pst) at:
C:\Documents and Settings\User1\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

2) If I try to change the location to backup the pst files to using
File\Backup\Options\Browse to a different folder, then I only see one backup
file called "outlook backup.pst" instead of the 4 separate files. The one
backup file located here is only the size of the "outlook backup.pst" file
when using the default backup location, so only one pst file is being backed
up when changing the default location of where to save the files. All 4
personal folders are checked in this scenario, as they are with the first.
C:\Documents and Settings\User1\Desktop\test backups
