Outlook 2003 causes hard system lockup

I'm running Outlook 2003/Exchange Server 2003. Around three weeks ago,
almost every computer on my network started locking up randomly (no
blue screen, just a complete system freeze, no num lock). We were able
to narrow the problem down to Outlook (users that began using OWA
stopped experiencing the lockup). The problem seems to occur when
Outlook tries to reach the Exchange server for one reason or another
(i.e., when sending a message or updating the local data store).

We use Trend Micro OfficeScan for virus protection. We tried disabling
it, no dice.

I've tried rebuilding user profiles, and completely reinstalling
Office. No luck with either of those.

There are NO events in any system or application logs on the client and
the server.

I've tried changing from cached to regular mode, disabling Word e-mail
editing, changing authentication schemes, and just about every other
option imaginable.

Does Outlook have some obscure driver or kernel interactions that
aren't commonly known? I hardly ever see Windows XP lock up like it's
doing, usually you get a blue screen, stack trace or SOMETHING to go
on. There seems to be no trace of this problem whatsoever. The only
way to reset the system is a hard power reset.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Zack
