Outlook 2003 not a legal copy - oh yes it is!

A friend of mine gave my daughter his old computer some months back. It has
Outlook 2003 on it - I installed 2007 on it just after she acquired it, which
replaced Word etc but left Outlook, Access etc in the 2003 version. The PC
runs XP Home.
It has run perfectly ever since, until a day or so ago. Now suddenly a
message appears when she launches Outlook saying it's not a valid copy. It
was most definitely a proper job legal copy.

My friend's new computer has 2007 on it and the 2003 installation on the XP
machine hasn't been moved from its original machine.

I used System Restore and this worked for about an hour and I even changed
updating to 'notify only' in case it was a screwed up version of the
validation tool being downloaded automatically to the machine.

I've heard this can be a problem but how do I fix it?

Thanks for any help.

Activation and license issues are best dealt with contacting Microsoft
directly. If your license key somehow got blacklisted, they can supply you
with a new one.
If the issue indeed appears to be at Microsoft's side, the support costs are
of course waived.

Did your friend's install of Office 2007 live his new computer with Outlook
and Access at 2003? If so, then there are two copies of Outlook and Access
2003 running off of the same key; and that is a problem. As the "Highlander"
said, "There can be only one".

Thanks Roady & Norman,

When he gave teh PC to us it had Office Professional 2003 on it. All worked
fine.
I installed Office 2007 H&SE on it and all was fine again for months, until
suddenly....

I've used countless PCs with various versions of Office on them, in the
sense that only bits have been upgraded. Is this wrong?

How would I contact MS. I live in the UK.
