I had been successfully using Outlook 2003 Professional Edition with IMAP
accounts on WinXP Professional SP3. I purchased a new laptop with Vista Home
Premium SP1, removed the trialware Office 2007 and Works installations, and
installed Office 2003 Professional Edition.
Since then, Outlook 2003 has been nearly unusable, crashing frequently. I
tracked down the problem to an apparent conflict with the AVG antivirus that
I had also installed. Removing the AVG antivirus causes fewer crashes, but
intermittent problems still continue. I have tried other antivirus products,
but they all seem to cause Outlook to crash. Obviously, I shouldn't be
running my computer without antivirus, but it is the only way my mail stays
up long enough to get through my messages. Does anyone have any suggestions?
- System File Checker has been run and found no problems.
- Outlook has been repeatedly deinstalled and installed without change.
