Outlook 2007 Buttons disabled (greyed out)

All of a sudden many of the button and menu options in Otlook 2007 have
greyed out - I can't access options or send / reply to emails. I am still
receiving them though.

I've listed all the factors I can think of below - if any one can solve this
I would be very greatful.

-I have a new PC with Vista home premium

-The system came with a pre-installed trial of office home and student that
hasn't expired yet.

-I purchased outlook 2007 and installed it, I successfully set up my emails
acount and it has been working perfectly for a few weeks.

-I use Bullguard anti virus, the trail expired fopr a day before I purchased
the full version.
