Outlook 2007 leaves files offline under Vista

Uing Vista SP1 and Office 2007 SP1, and working on files which are
synchronized to "offline files", there's a bug in Excel. I'm comparing the
behavior to Word 2007 which appears to work correctly.

The computer is online with the server at the time of this test and the .doc
and .xls files are online and synchronized.

When opening the files, I can see that both files go offline.
No changes are made.
When the file or Word is closed, the .doc file goes back online.
When the file or Excel is closed, the .xls file remains offline until
manually synchronized or until an automatic sync takes place.

Looking for a hotfix...

I've been trying to get answers to this problem for almost a year
now. I've narrowed it down some. It only seems to happen to .xls
files, not .xlsx. It also only seems to happen with roaming
profiles. Local profiles using offline files works fine. If you
happen to get an answer, post back here. I'd love to hear about it.
