Outlook Add-in error message

I have recently uninstalled the AVG Internet Security application. I now get
the message:
The Add-inn "AVG Exchange Extension" (C:\program~1\AVG\AVG9\avgxch32.dll)
cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in
manufacturer for an update. If no update is available,please uninstall the
Add-in. I have checked in Outlook Tools Trust Centre but don't really know
what I am looking for. Your help would be much appreciated. With thanks

Hi, I have used a special application to remove Internet Security
applications which uninstalled everything, it's Outlook that is looking for
an Add-in that no longer exists. I get this error message each time before
Outlook opens.

Well, if you're not going to actually read the help articles in the search
results then you're on your own to invent a scheme by doing the manual
eradication of remnant files and registry entries.

With Outlook closed, delete the file extend.dat found in the (usually hidden)
folder %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook (on
Windows XP) or %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook (on Windows Vista or Windows
7). Start Outlook again.

I tried your suggestion about removing the extend.dat file, and it worked.
