Pages blacked out

A user is having issue with Word displaying pages fully blacked out. These
are already created word documents. It appears on randomly selected pages,
there doesn't seem to be any pattern to which pages are blacked out and which
ones aren't. It only occurs in the print layout view of Word. The documents
include both text and pictures but both or neither can be blacked out. He's
using Word 2003 in a standardized environment. No other users are
experiencing this issue. Any help would be great.

I presume the documents are OK on other computers? Then I suspect the
graphics or printer drivers. Check that you have the latest drivers for both
graphics card and the printer. Update the graphics driver, then delete and
reinstall the printer.

It's not a problem with printing as far as I know. Only the display. The
documents show up fine on other computers. Also, graphics are unlikely since
the user accesses Word and the documents through a Citrix environment. No
other Citrix users have an issue like this. The user's account has been
completely recreated and the problem persists. I've considered the local
machine's graphics, but since one document can have pages that are blacked
out and pages that appear normally it seems to eliminate that possibility.

If this is over Citrix, then it is very strange indeed! What happens if a
different user logs in on that particular workstation: does it have the same
problem?

I actually don't know right now. I've asked the user to try this for me and
find out but haven't heard back yet. I'll post here when I do. Thanks for
all the help Terry.

Terry,
The problem does not seem to occur for other users on the workstation.
Several other users have used the workstation with no issues. Any ideas?
Thanks.

With this sort of totally illogical fault, I'd delete the profile on the
server, delete the user profile on the workstation and then set up the user
from scratch again. These sort of problems with profiles are real time
stealers.

I've already done this once and it didn't solve the problem. I'll give it
another shot and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

Good luck with it. It is almost certainly a profile problem: could be in the
users registry settings or on the server. They're just a real nightmare to
find.
