Crashing of software is different than crashing a schedule. Which one do you
need help on?

Crashing a schedule involves finding the critical path (which can be done
after you have built a network diagram or pert chart) then using resources
(i.e. people) to shorten the critical path...

The critical path requires a network diagram and duration estimates.
Duration estimates can be single values or a range of values (PERT uses a
range of values - which you use to calculate an average). Using the average
value as your duration estimate, MSP calculates a forward pass and a
backward pass. These to "passes" through the network highlight the critical
path..
