Poster background in Power Point

Version: Older version Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel I made a 11 x 17 poster and used an available P.P. background image for the poster but it did not fill the whole poster. When the poster printed it had a thick white border around it. How do I get it to fill the whole poster up with the background? I typed in the size before I made it.
