Potential Bug in Surrogate Timesheet Creation??

Hi All,

(Project Server Sp2/Aug CU)

I came across a potential bug in Project Server 2007.

Here is the scenario...

1. Create an enterprise lookup table and call it Application Name. Populate
this with values.

2. Create an enterprise custom field (task/text) called Application Name and
link it to the lookup table create in step1.Also select the values to roll
down to assignments

3. Create a plan with some tasks and assign those tasks to resources. Add
the custom fields to the gant chart and populate the task lines with values.

4. Save and Publish the plan

5. Have the resource create a timesheet and you can see the values are
populated. so this works as expected.

6. Now create a surrogate timesheet for the resource and the custom values
do not get populated.

Is this a bug or am I missing a setting or step?

Tks,
Shane

My guess is that it is a bug. Probably something the project server team
didn't consider when they developed the surrogate timesheet functionality in
Project Server 2007. There are other strange behaviors with surrogate
timesheets that would make my shy away from using that feature completely.

FYI, in Project Server 2010, they have removed the surrogate timesheet
feature. It is being replaced with the user delegation feature. This new
feature allows someone to be delegated to take over responsibilities for
another user and can log in as that user in a limited fashion in order to
perform that user's tasks. This could include things filling in their
timesheets for them.
