Powerpoint 2004 for Mac

I have received several Powerpoint presentations created in the PC version
2003. When I open the POWERPOINT FILE in my Mac, the photos appear as black
boxes. When you open the same file in another PC, the photos appear just
fine. Does anybody know what causes this? I have to use the file to make
presentations and there's no way I can use it this way.

I need help. I have looked extensively in all the "problem scenarios" and
not a single one matches my problem.
