printing envelopes in correct orientation

Using Word 2003 on WinXPPro, Brother HL1440 laser printer. Updated Brother
printer driver today. Now when I try to print an envelope with a deliver
address and return omitted, the orientation is 90 degrees off on manual feed
of #10 envelope. Tried changing settings in Feed Method, or Clockwise
Rotation but no change. Hit Reset for Word's default settings for the
printer, but no use.

If it doesn’t work one way, try, try again. Finally try a work around. See
where it is printing; make a guesstimate where the text of the address should
be so that they will print out correctly. Insert a text box there, enter
data or Word Fields, make a couple test prints, and adjust accordingly.

This can happen when the wrong codes are sent to the printer or the printer
doesn't understand the codes thanks to inadequacies in the printer driver.
Some Epson printers inkjet printers are notorious for this - see
http://www.gmayor.com/epson_envelope_orientation.htm .

If the same solution does not work for Brother, the simplest plan is to use
an envelope template which you can set to use either portrait or landscape
mode to correct the issue. There are some sample templates to download from
my web site http://www.gmayor.com/downloads.htm.
