A LITTLE LEFT OF CENTER

I have Outlook 2007 on a Vista system and Acer computer. I never had problems
opening attachments. When I click on any common attachment icon (jpeg, pdf,
word), the icon and description flashes for an instant, but does not open.
I checked the "attachment handling" in the Trust Center to make sure the
settings were ok.
At the same time, I am, having a problem with the Synaptics TouchPad V6.2.
Tapping the TouchPad does not work, though the settings are correct. The
right and left click does work normally, however. I checked the software
settings here also.
The Microsoft common answers do not help.
What do you suggest?

If you save the attachment and doubleclick on the icon on your desktop (or
wherever you saved it) does it open?
If it opens, what happens if you start outlook in safe mode? (Exit completely
out of Outlook, pull up taskmanager to verify outlook.exe is not running,
hit Windows Key+R and type outlook /safe and hit enter)

Uhh, does it do that in all programs, or just outlook? If it's all programs,
it isn't an Outlook issue and you might be better off talking to the laptop
manufacturer.
