Problem with New Installation

F

FranciscoB

I am setting up my new machine and I try to set up Groove. The Installation
runs smoothly and gives me no headache but when I start Groove and wants to
use my old account(from file) Groove just leaves me alone with no response.
Groove is still running and by rightclicking on the icon I can choose to Exit
Groove, Work offline or Create a New Account. If I choose New Account I Come
to the same dialog as when I start Groove manually.

If I choose the enter my email and password instead of getting my user
information from a file. The same thing happens.

If I enter wrong password Groove tells me that it cannot locate my account
which seems perfectly OK.

Anyone with some help for me?!?

Hi FranciscoB,

From the description, it seems that when you launch Groove, it hangs.
Please refer to the following tech notes:

What should I do if Groove hangs upon launch?
http://www.groove.net/support/kb/detail.cfm/docnum/TCN-00160

Check the information in the article to see whether they are work or not.

if not, I suggest you to try the following steps to narrow down this issue:

Replay install
--------
Before you do I would like you disable Groove from loading at startup. Click
Start, Programs, Startup and right click the Groove icon. Click delete. Now
restart the computer.

Download and run the installation from the following location:
http://components.groove.net/Groove/DailyBuilds/latest/OCI/Setup.htm

Over installing will not remove any licenses or remove any account or space
data. There is also no need to uninstall first. Restart the computer once
the installation is complete. Groove will have been added back to the startup
and will load. Log in to the account.

Is it resolved the problem?

Best regards,

Shirley

I found out the problem and got it working.
I read something about the need of having the same version of Groove when
using the same account on multiple computers so I looked and found that my
new machine had version 3.0f installed and the old one 3.1a.
What? I thought and tried to download the latest version from Groove.
Version 3.0f came in again.

So I made a new account on my new computer activated my licence and went
into Options and Checked for Upgrade. Then Groove downloaded and installed
the latest version 3.1a and then I could without problem use the same account
on both computers.

Feels kind of awkward that Groove not is able to leave a message that the
version was wrong and gave me possibility to download Groove in the right
version myself.
