problems connecting entourage to hotmail and gmail

Hello. have tried for two days now to set up hotmail and gmail to my
entourage. buyed the microsoft 2004 for mac and filled in the required
information to connect to gmail and hotmail.understands that you need a
premium subscription to hotmail to make hotmail work in entourage (is
this correct? talked to many mac users that have free hotmail and it
still works??) but when it tries to download from my gmail account the
same error message appeares, "the server may be busy etc". what have i
done wrong? using pop.gmail.com and POP and my gmail information..
please help me

For Gamil, you need to turn on the POP service in your google prefs first

For hotmail, I think they have been having problems with some servers in
recent days, there have been a spate of 'unable to connect' messages on the
lists
