Project client web panes broken

Hello,

since a few days ago, my local Project installation suddenly has problems
showing the web panes from Project Server. When I open one of those panes
(The options in the Collaborate menu) I get an error about Srchui.dll and
Jscript.dll not being registered properly.

Little detail on this is that my services.msc window also seems to be
broken. Only the advanced tab works, the first one is all scrambled.

I know reinstalling my PC probably is the best option, but that's really not
an option I can use right now. So if anyone has any idea how I could
(temporarily) fix this, that would be great. I can use the online pages in my
browser for as long as I've got no solution.

Probably best to re-ask on the Project Server newsgroup as that's where
the gurus hangout: microsoft.public.project.server.

That being said, I was curious what these srchui.dll file was. Google
found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891170 which might be of help.

Hi Rob,

I've posted the same question in the server newsgroup too, thanks. As for
the google link: I too found that one, but registering those dll's didn't do
the trick unfortunately.

As it is something (probably) wrong with Windows on desktop (root
cause?), try posting on Windows newsgroup too. Given symptoms (machine
telling you dll's not registered) that re-registering them doesn't work.

Fixed it. Reinstalling IE8 did the trick.
