Project Server 2007 Installation

I am trying to install Microsoft Project Server 2007, and am running into an
error.

We have setup a separate server that we intend to use to run the Project
Server services - I have been able to install onto this server without a
problem.

The binaries also need to be installed onto our main MOSS web application
server, but when I try to install onto the existing MOSS web application
server, I get an error "Microsoft Office Project Server encountered an error
during Setup", and have the option to exit (Close) the setup process.

The event log has several informational messages indicating success of
various components, and one indicating failure (see below)

I would appreciate any help anyone can give to help me get this resolved.

Thanks in advance!

PS. I have already tried the following which was provided to me in the
Sharepoint newsgroup where I have posted this previously:

Hello Arduk,

This error occurs because a previous install has not completed successfully.

To correct this problem, do the following:
1. Open explorer and navigate to the location of your config.msi folder
(this is
a
hidden system folder created by the MSI installation, located on the root
of the
C:
drive by default)
2. Remove the read-only and system flags from the folder
3. Rename the folder to config.msi.old
4. Reinstall the project 2007.

Sincerely,

Wei Lu

The setup logs would probably give a better indication about the problem.
These should be in the same directory as the ULS logs. You mention that the
Project Server binaries need to be added to the MOSS server - have you
already loaded the MOSS binaries on to the other server where you
succesfully loaded Project Server? All servers need all binaries across the
farm.

Thanks for getting back to me Brian.

The only logs that I can find for this are the actual sharepoint logs.

In these, I found the following message:
07/26/2007 07:32:35.57 w3wp.exe (0x192C)
0x1200 Windows SharePoint Services General
8e1f High Failed to find the XML file at location
'12\Template\Features\PWA\Feature.xml'

This appeared several times.

I tried copying this directory and files to the correct location from the
other server on which I have succesfully installed, but it appears to delete
the contents of this folder as part of setup, as it failed with the same
error after copying this file across, and the file didn't exist when I
checked.

In answer to your other questions:
In order to install project server, I followed the steps on this site:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Offic...d7c6-4108-b6fd-7eba162a5b621033.mspx?mfr=true

So I believe that I have installed everything as it should be.

Any chance of getting some more assistance with this? Is the response
guaranteed within 2 days only on managed forums?

thanks in advance

Arduk:

This is a peer-to-peer forum with no guarantees that you'll get a reply from
anyone! You got lucky that Brian from MSFT decided to respond to your post
as nobody from Microsoft is responsible for supporting this group. It's
strictly voluntary for everyone involved. If you have access to the managed
news groups, you can take advantage of the SLA those groups offer. Hope this
clarifies the function of the public newsgroups for you.
