If my client doesn't have Microsoft Project 2000 software, how do I advise them to view the *.mpp? Is there any freeware for Project 2000 viewer?

Your client should not need to view the MPP file. Does your accountant send
you his Excel spreadsheet or a report with just the information you need?
You can Save To A Web Page and send your client the HTML file that he can
view with his web browser. You could also get a utility from Acrobat that
will allow you to print the project to a PDF file.

Dave, you missed the point:can't tell to a client what to
do or what to view.

There are few project readers available on the
market, just go to google and search for "microsoft
project viewer",etc.

Mike you are writing always the same. Sorry but it really
doesn't help us here! Your standard stuff is boring!
Bye Dave

Hi Dave,

I'm sorry that my attempts to help newbies is boring! The fact that the
posting is made tells me 2 things: the poster has read few, if any, of the
previous posts in these newsgroups, and secondly that they are unaware or
have not read our FAQs. The FAQ #16 contains most, if not all, the options
open to someone who wants a viewer and thus needs little, if any, further
comment. Whether or not someone else makes a comment in the thread is
immaterial to me as, by directing the original poster to the FAQs, he/she
might learn a lot and save time and effort posting further questions on
subjects where the FAQs have already provided answers. The FAQs are genuine
in that they have been written because the same topic keeps appearing in
these newsgroups and we have had to frequently give the same answer.

In future, you can be saved the boredom by ignoring any post whose title
contains the words "Project Viewer" - set up a rule in your browser to do
this.

I use an application from Afinion called "Project on Web Viewer"
(http://www.afinion.com/). This application works exteremely well for us as
we recieve MPP files quite often and need to view them and/or print them
out. However, we do not have the need to manipulate or create our own MPP
files so owning MS Project is not really necessary. Unlike other viewers,
Project on Web Viewer reads the native MPP file so there is no need for the
creator of the MPP file to convert it to another format. While it is not a
free viewer, Project on Web Viewer has met my needs quite well and is very
cost effective (it is better then shelling out the total cost of a full MS
Project license). I would highly recommend it. I hope this helps. Post
back if you have other questions.
