Project Workspace Template Missing

BudOlly

I am very new to MS Project and SharePoint. We have one server (Windows
Server 2003) with SharePoint Services 3.0 and MS Project Server 2003
installed (Not a farm). I want to enable Project Web Access (PWA) to create
WSS sites for projects. Trouble is, in the "Manage Windows SharePoint
Services" in PWA I can add the Central Admin URL and the other URL under
which to create sites. But when I try to save that, I get an error saying
the Project Workspace Template is missing, and that I need to run the
SharePoint Services Configuration Wizard. So, I ran the WSSwiz off the
Project CD and all i get is an error saying I do not have WSS installed and
goto www.microsoft.com updates and Windows SharePoint Services will be listed
as an update. Just to humor Microsoft, I went and got the WSS SP1 update,
and nothing has changed. I have read through the user guide and other forums
that say I need to go through the "Server Installation" on the Project CD to
install the Project Workspace Template for WSS, but if I go that route, the
Project Setup wants to uninstall MS Project (Not a good solution). Is that
my only option at this point, a reinstall, or is there another way to get
that Project Workspace Template installed and configured?

Hi BudOlly,

The issue you are having is you are trying to use SharePoint Services 3.0
with Project Server 2003. This is not supported. Project Server 2003 is only
supported with SharePoint Services 2.0. You will need to uninstall WSS 3.0
and install WSS 2.0

I would suggest you review the MS installation guide for Project Server 2003
carefully to ensure you have all the compatible bits before you proceed.

Hope this helps.
