Publisher 2007 Birthday card jpg rotation problem

I'm running SP2 MSO and selected the Birthday 4 template. It's a side
fold card template. I wanted to change the image on the front (page
1) and the inside left (page 2). I had two jpgs on my computer, so I
used Insert-Picture-From File... . In each case when they were
inserted, I need to rotate them CCW 90 degrees, so I grabbed the green
dot rotate handle and rotated them so they were right side up (they
were flowers). I then added a text box above each one.

The print preview showed the correct orientation of the flowers with
respect to the text above them for both page 1 and page2. However,
when I printed the card, the jpg on page 2 was inverted 180 degrees.

In order to get it to print correctly, I needed to adjust the jpg on
page 2, that is I needed to rotate it CCW 180 degrees so in publisher
and print preview it looked like it was upside down, however, when
printed, it was right side up.

I checked the Format Picture-Size-Rotation box and when inserting each
one of these it was 0 degrees. In each case, the first CCW 90 degrees
resulted in each being set to "270". As described above, after
adjusting the page 2 jpg so that it views upside down but prints right
side up, it now shows "90".

I'm using an HP deskjet 6840 on a Windows Vista 64 Ultimate OS.
While there's always the possibility this is a print driver problem, I
haven't seen any other rotation problems in other office or print
utilities. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Publisher will automatically rotate the images on page 2 of your side fold card.
It will look upside down in print preview. You shouldn't have to rotate the
image manually. Delete the picture, re-insert it.

Thank you for the response but I'm not quite sure I communicated this
correctly. The jpgs were stored on my computer with an orientation
such that when inserted into Publisher they were "laying down on their
right hand side". Hence the need to rotate them CCW 90 degrees. When
I said "The print preview showed the correct orientation..." The first
time I did mean the upper right hand quandrant (which is == page 2)
showed an inverted flower above an inverted text box (both were upside
down) as it should have been. However, the print of that resulted in
a physical print of page 2's jpg only being inverted (the text was
oriented correctly).

I did a subsequent test, and rotated the jpgs with an external
software program before inserting them into Publisher, so they would
appear to be "standing up" and did not rotate them within Publisher.
This did result with the print preview having the correct orientation
as well as the physical print having the correct orientation.

I understand when describing this the 'orientation' and descriptions
are problematic, however, I don't think Publisher is handling the page
2 rotation correctly for printing in this specific case. I would
guess the 270 degrees is the problem, however, I don't know if there's
metatdata within the jpg that's causing the problem either.

Can you send me the image(s)? I'd like to see if I get the same happening with
your pictures.
