Publisher cannot open the file

Yesterday I saved a Publisher 2007 file. Today (on the same PC) I cannot
re-open the file; I get an error message "Publisher cannot open the file.".
Any suggestions?

good news / bad news is I emailed the file to myself - opened it on a
different computer (that had Publisher 2007) and was able to open it
successfully. YES! Did a SAVE AS and sent it back to myself....went to
original computer...still could not open - :(

VICTORY!! The hotfix 972566 worked. Load it into the DOWNLOAD directory
rather than the C: default - then I did not get the Error Code 40 and it
worked!! Was able to open the Publisher file with no problem. Hope this
helps.

This solution (to avoid the error code 40 issue) did not work for me. I
could not find a *DOWNLOAD* directory, so I tried to download the
hotfix, in turn, into each of *Downloaded Program Files* and *Downloaded
Installations*, both sub-directories of the *Windows* directory. Each
of these 2 efforts still resulted in an error code 40. Any
suggestions?

Just a suggestion....

Download the file to your desktop...

Restart your computer in Safe Mode....

Try to install the update....

FWIW...it's always a good idea to create
a System Restore Point before installing
or updating anything.
