[PWA] - Active X Install failures, any ideas?

Must be the full moon.

I have Project 2007 Enterprise installed on my system and use PWA also.

PWA was working great. I could go to the resource center and see resources
via the ActiveX component.

I did an un-install/re-install of Project 2007 to try and fix a problem with
the Project Guide.

Now I'm getting a request to install the Active X controls again (Resource
Center and Project Center specifically). Cool. Click the 'install' link.

Sorry no go... I'm getting an indication that IE is set up to dis-allow
ActiveX installs and I need to adjust the permissions. ??

IE is set to Low security for Intranet and Trusted Sites and the server is a
trusted site.

Reboots don't help.

I have changed NOTHING at the PWA level and only did a Project
Uninstall/re-install on my machine. This leads me to believe that the Active
X stuff is somehow associated with the client not the server (and I know that
doesn't make much sense).

Any ideas? I'm off to call my IT guys and see what they can figure out.

TIA

Doug:

You may need to delete the old version of them. I recommend deleting them
from a DOS prompt, but you can also do this within IE. Also, you should
check with your IT group as you never know when someone implements a new
group policy!

I have a call into IT - we'll see what happens.

I tried this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/154850

but no joy.
There is nothing in my 'add remove program' list that looks like an ActiveX
control.
When I try the C:\Windows\Downloaded Program File version, there are no
files listed that were installed in the last month (my time window with
Project). Even if I forget the date issue, they all belong to Oracle.

Nothing to delete.

Cool.

I'll let you know what IT comes up with.

Gary,

One Adobe tool, couple from Sun, Windows Messanger, Diagnose connection
problems, and research. Those don't sound like anything I can or should
delete.

I know I have to be doing something stupid here...just can't see it yet.

Thanks.

I went back and noticed there is an option to view addins that are 'currently
loaded' and 'have been used'. There are several Project looking addins in
the second list. I can't delete them, only disable them.

Disabled the lot of them,
Shut down IE
Restarted IE
Went to the Resource page
Now I get a message that Active X addins are deactivated click to enable.
Click, select disabled components, enable.
Tried to do an 'update', denied, says no update available.
Resources still not displayed, link to install addin takes me back to the
page telling me my security settings are screwed up.

Time to go home.

Thanks for the help - it is really appreciated!

I upgraded to IE7. IE 7 allowed me to actually delete the ActiveX controls.
Once they were gone, they then downloaded and installed.

Love to know why the controls worked, then stopped, but at least I'm back in
operation.
