Recovering AutoRecovery Info

Anyone know where to find the file for the autorecovery in
Visio? Feature at: Tools>Options>Save>Save Autorecovery
info every... If it is set to save the recovery info every
15 minutes, what happens if my PC crashes after two hours
of work? When I went back in to Visio, I find I am at my
starting point. Any way to get this info back? Thanks.

I've noticed this too. On a couple occasions I've had a
power outage and went back to the original file and had
Visio warn me there was a backup. More often though it
does not tell me of a backup and loads the original
starting point. I feel your pain.

I find my recovery file in the same directory as the
original file you loaded. It has the same name, but it
starts with a ~$ (tilde and dollar sign). Now when
something happens, my shaking, sweaty hands manuever to
this recovery file with Windows Explorer and I double-
click to start Visio with the recovery file loaded (you
will only lose as much as 15 minutes). Check it carefully
and resave using Save As.

I assume if you forget and load the original file, (and it
doesn't warn you of a recovery) that the recovery file
will stay intact on the drive until the next recovery save
(but I'm not sure). Get to it ASAP!

To see if the recovery file is being created: Load up
your Visio file, wait for the first recovery save, and use
Explorer to look in the original directory for
~$yourfile.vsd.
