Redirect Rule Won't Work

R

Richard Phillips

Hi,

I've set up a Redirect Rule in a colleague's Outlook account as she is based at another location most of the time (where she has a different e-mail address). However, it doesn't appear to be redirecting her e-mails. We are on Exchange, and I've followed the Rules guidance for setting up a redirect. Anyone have any ideas why her emails aren't being redirected?

Thanks.

Richard,
Is it server-based or client-based? I'm not sure, but I think if it's
client-based, then she'll have to have her Outlook with the 'redirecting'
account open, signed in, and polling the server periodically in order for
the rule to work.

If the desire is to redirect at the server level (so that account doesn't
have to be open to work), make sure it's a server rule.

If that's not the case, please post the rule's steps here, we can take a
look and see if there's a weakness.

Also note that Exchange prevents auto-forwarded messages out to the Internet
out of the box and you'd need to enable that.

Personally, I'd not even give her a local account, just set up a custom
recipient in the GAL that will re-address the mail and let the user access
her other mailbox through the local network.

That actually makes a lot more sense....
