Is there an answer somewhere that tells what needs to be accomplished inorder
to reinstall Office Home and Student 2007? I have tried everything that I
have researched on MS website, but, still can't get it right...can someone
help? Thanks

Yes, I tried the CD in another drive, copied the CD to my hard drive, and
other recommendations from MS web site...when I try to load MSHS I get the
message "Microsoft Office Home and Student encountered an error during
setup"...

Yes, and I tried the steps in the article "How to uninstall the 2007 Office
system if you cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs"
feature"...the problem encountered is when I try to reinstall MSHS 2007...I
have looked at a lot of articles relating to the "error during setup"...I
downloaded and purchased it from MS downloads...the only thing I haven't
tried is "How to change the product key for 2007 Office system", I don't know
if I should try this method to get the program to reinstall??

Have you delt with the same problem? if so how did you resolve the issue?

Thanks...

Sorry, I have not used Home and Student 2007. Do you also see an Error
number in the message?

Sorry, then I guess the question is now "What is the status and error
message currently, when you attempt an installation?"

Bottom line...when I try to install MSOHS 2007 the installation stops with
the message: MSOHS 2007 encountered an error during setup. That is the only
message I get...the software package will not install.

Was there a Trial version of Office on the PC. You say REinstall, was it
removed, UNinstalled or were files deleted?

E

Yes there was a trial version first then I upgraded, by purchasing, to
MSOHS2007...and then I uninstalled the purchased product. And, one of the
article I tried was "How to uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot
uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature", and I used the
Windows Install Clean Up program to remove all of the MSOHS 2007 because it
wasn't performing correctly, so I thought I would uninstall it and reinstall
it thinking it may repair anything that may be wrong with it.

Did you uninstall the Trial version? Is there a chance of doing a System
Restore to the time just before you "upgraded" the trial office?

E

I cannot do a system restore because I don't have a point prior to trail
version, my restore points only go back to the first of August...and I did
uninstall the trial version, although as I recall there may have been some
issues and if there were I would have use the Windows Install Clean Up to
remove it...

That might be where the issue started. The notes about the Windows
Installer Cleanup say not to use with 2007 Office (excerpt attached)

"Warning The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is provided "as is" to
help resolve installation problems for programs that use Microsoft
Windows Installer. If you use this utility, you may have to reinstall
other programs. Caution is advised. We recommend that you do not use
this utility with 2007 Office system products."

Please try uninstalling Office 2007 following the article below.

How to uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it by
using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature

I tried the kb928218 method and nothing changed...do I need to remove Windows
Installer Cleanup and then try to install MSOHS2007? Also, when I first
starting having problems with reinstalling office 2007 I went to the
add/remove programs and tried to remove office 2007 and I got the same error
message that I am getting when trying to install "...encountered an error
during setup", that is when I went to the Windows Installer Cleanup and
remove office 2007...I tried kb 927153, it seems the file doesn't exist on my
computer...

I have run out of ideas as to how to easily recover from this one.
Perhaps someone else has something else.

I appreciate Bob your help in this matter, if and when I find the answer I
will post it to this web site...again, thanks...
