Reports won't open. Please Help

I have just done a clean reinstall of Windows XP Pro and Office 2003 along
with the other applications which had been previously installed. The computer
is on a simple workstation network with another computer running Vista X64
and the printer is connected to the Vista computer. Since reinstalling I
cannot open any reports when the network computer is the default. Printing is
fine from Word and can even print the functions in the modules. If I change
the default printer to Microsoft XP5 Document writer then the reports open
OK. This behaviour has been brought up previously on the Newsgroup usually on
new computers or new installs but no one has suggested a solution as to how
to open the reports with the printer connected!
There is no doubt that a week ago the reports opened AND they could be
printed on the same setup. Can anyone suggest a possible solution?

Bernie,
This is usually caused by no default printer being defined. Access tries
to use the print drivers of the default porinter to create/display the
WYSIWYG report,

OR.... the printer does not have the latest and greatest printer driver
installed.

I would expect those causes first...

I would also expect, that if you had just a local, regular ink jet
printer, locally attached, and defined as the default... the report would
open/print OK.

Thank you for your interest

I have a default printer defined and the latest drivers installed. The
problem is if I make the network printer (attached to another computer) the
default printer then the problem occurrs. There is little doubt (I am never
100% sure of anything) that a week ago the reports opened AND they were
immediately printed on the same setup.
I don't have a problem printing the reports, I can print to the network
printer by designating the printer at the print stage and leaving another
printer as the default.

Bernie,
Since you can print to ther printers OK, it certainly looks like a
printer/printer driver problem.
Sorry I can't offer more assistance, but my printer knowledge is no more
than most users...
Perhaps a Network type newsgroup would be of some help, or a newsgroup
that deals with your operating system.
Can't hurt to leave this post here, and see if anyone else wades in...

I am having a similar issue. I cannot open the report if the default printer
is a network printer. But I can open it if I setup the default printer as the
Microsoft office Document image Writer. I have access 2003 with SP3.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Sunil
