Restore a Project and lose contacts!

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I create a project in Entourage.
I associate a contact to it, and associate emails

I backup the project, and tell it to remove the information from entourage.
I import the .rge backup that I made. All of the emails are now in the project, correctly tagged. The contacts however are no longer part of the project, in fact they are not restored at all!

Any ideas? I am running 12.1.5
